Principal Lawyer & Notary Public

Angela joined the firm in 2006 following her call to the Ontario Bar that same year, and has served as its principal lawyer since January 2008. She received her B.A. from McGill University in 2002 and her J.D. from Queen's University in 2005, where she was also a case worker for Queen's Legal Aid from 2002 to 2005.

Angela practises primarily in estates and trusts, guiding families through estate planning and administration with care and precision. She is an appointed Notary Public for the Province of Ontario.

She is a member of the Ontario Bar Association, the Canadian Bar Association, and the Law Society of Ontario, and a section member of the Ontario Bar Association for Estates and Trusts.

1960

The Practice Begins

R. Keith Stainton, Q.C. begins practising in the community, focusing on real estate as well as estates and trusts.

1989

Stainton & Murray

John A. Murray joins R. Keith Stainton in private practice, forming the partnership that has served the Bayview South community ever since.

2006

Angela W. Lam Joins

Following her call to the Ontario Bar, Angela W. Lam joins the firm as an associate.

2008

A New Principal

Angela W. Lam becomes the firm's principal lawyer, carrying its tradition of personal, community-rooted counsel forward.

Grace manages real estate files and is the first point of contact for appointments and file-specific matters.

R. Keith Stainton, Q.C.

Founder · Retired

The original principal of the firm, Keith began practising in 1960, focusing primarily on residential and commercial real estate as well as estates and trusts. His standards of integrity remain the firm's foundation.

John A. Murray, B.A., LL.B.

Partner · Retired December 2011

John received his B.A. from the University of New Brunswick in 1965 and his LL.B. from the University of Western Ontario in 1969, and was called to the Ontario Bar in 1971. After practising as a sole practitioner in downtown Toronto and spending five years with the Legal Services Department of the Government of the Northwest Territories, he joined Keith Stainton in 1989, practising real estate and corporate law.

Edward R. Smith, B.A., LL.B.

Counsel · In Memoriam (d. 2009)

Edward received his LL.B. from Osgoode Hall in 1989 and practised at a large downtown firm before serving as in-house counsel for a major financial institution. As counsel to the firm, he assisted in corporate law and estate planning. He is remembered fondly.
